Man, ive been spotting these for years now. Every time ive pointed it out like yo whats that wifi router doing on a wooden pole. (Idiots terms). Heres one i snapped the other day: Look at that devilish bastard up there. A bunch of boxes all wired into each other. Nice. Definitely radio sensors of some sort. No doubt, even back then, no doubt, but here it is now in the lime light for everyone to see. Heres an official quote:
Working with German security company GMSK Cryptophone, it claims to have uncovered direct evidence, the first in the UK, of at least 20 instances of the use of these cell site simulators. These portable Stingray boxes could be used to track police suspects. The Metropolitan Police Service refused to confirm or deny it was using them.
Stingrays are fake cell towers. Your phone thinks that the stingray is the nearest cell phone tower, and connects to it automatically, because that is the strongest signal. What it doesn’t know is that it is fake. These stingrays will log you for god knows how long it takes your phone to switch cell towers. Every bit of info, incoming texts, calls, location data, wifi packets etc. are getting logged by these black boxes. Heres the easy tings:
By mimicking a legitimate mobile tower and tricking every phone in range into connecting to them, the boxes “catch” the international mobile subscriber number (IMSI) and electronic serial number (ESN) of each and reveal the exact location of its user.
Met Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe told Sky News:
“We’re not going to talk about it, because the only people who benefit are the other side, and I see no reason in giving away that sort of thing.”
THE OTHER SIDE IS US! YOU! ME!
“With 20 IMSI Catchers now confirmed to be deployed across London – we need law enforcement to step up, have an honest conversation about their use, so we can ensure the public are being properly protected.”
TWENTY. ALL AROUND LONDON. FUCK THE UNITED KINGDOM. ITS IN LONDON. OUR HOME TOWN. STEP UP NOW.
